Born in socialist Mongolia, Dr Tsegmid experienced her adolescence during the country’s transition to democracy. Her journey has taken her from Mongolia to the UK (2004-2012), back to Mongolia (2012-2022), and now to Germany (2022–present), where she works, creates, and raises her child. A trained artist specialising in contemporary art photography, she holds multiple academic degrees, including a Doctor of Philosophy.
Over the past twenty years, she has gained expertise in curating, project management, mentoring, and consulting, allowing her to work as a freelancer in both Mongolia and Germany. As an artist-researcher, experienced curator, and writer with deep roots in Mongolia and Europe, Dr Tsegmid is launching this project to create fair, accessible pathways for Mongolian artists to be seen, supported, and taken seriously on the global stage.
