ARTISTS – SEED FUNDERS

The Role of Artists in the New Wind Project

At the heart of New Wind Mongolia stand the artists themselves—visionary, determined, and deeply committed to building a stronger, more sustainable cultural future. This project would not exist without their belief in its mission. The launch of New Wind was made possible through the artists’ own contributions. Together, they pledged 20% of the annual budget, becoming the project’s seed funders and marking a historic milestone for Mongolia.

By participating, the artists also open their creative lives to research, interviews, and long-term collaboration, allowing us to build a public archive that documents Mongolian contemporary art from within the community. Their willingness to invest time, knowledge, and trust makes it possible to develop resources that Mongolia has long lacked—critical writing, curatorial research, and pathways for young professionals.

In New Wind, artists are not passive beneficiaries; they are co-founders and co-architects of a new cultural infrastructure. Their contribution demonstrates a collective commitment to building something lasting, independent, and future-oriented. Their courage and solidarity set the tone for the entire project—and inspire others to join in supporting this new chapter for Mongolian art.
